Children of Earth Day Three
Captain Jack: Frobisher, tell me…
is it them, have they come back?
Frobisher: Yes.
After perfecting the Donald Sutherland Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) scary “ooo”, this episode they perfect the Donald Sutherland Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) scary pointing (pictured)!
Seriously though – this episode managed to keep the tension of the first two episodes going in a marvellous way.
Jack’s thirtysomething daughter managed to do some great Doctor Who running that would have made Peri proud.
The assembly of a means for an alien intelligence to arrive on Earth, which then communicates recalls A for Andromeda (the BBC4 remake is pictured), but the alien this time is less comely then Andromeda e.g. Ursula Andress Julie Christie* and Kelly Reilly, and neither of those ladies emitted grey-green slime.
Add to all this a cliffhanger which returns Jack to “is he a good guy or bad guy” roots, and this was stupendous superior drama for BBC One.

Ursula Andress? Julie Christie, surely! Dear old Fred Hoyle was terribly proud of ‘discovering’ her.

Nothing like a typo or factual error to get some comments on a blog! ;)
Thanks though Tim – my excuses are I wrote that in 20 minutes last night and the Beeb has junked all 7 eps of the original A for Andromeda (though ep 6 still exists) so it’s hard to figure out which actress it is – or something!
