“Let’s say we were under the same doctor.”
Martha, this episode.
Oh dear. Despite being a capable, independent, ex-Doctor Who companion now forging her own way in this Doctor Who spin-off show – Martha is subjected to a “captured” scenario that would have been considered too dubious for even Peri to be involved in. Dancing, thanks to Steven Moffat’s Doctor Who scripts, is now the recognised euphemism for sex in the world of Doctor Who. Martha in this episode is included in the story by the writers for sex appeal and little else.
Apart from showing Martha as a damsel in distress, other things that were not great – the fact that the actual story was almost unintelligible, and the continuation from Torchwood 2.5: Meat the idea that Jack bizarrely only feels sympathy for aliens if they look like animals (whales, wasps, whatever).
One of the worst Torchwood episodes so far.
