The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy: Primary Phase, 1

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is the most-renowned thing ever written by Douglas Adams…

When you consider he also wrote Doctor Who: City of Death that is quite something. (Plus was script editor for rest of the Seventeenth Season, and wrote the never-completed Shada. He also wrote The Pirate Planet of the previous season.)

It’s also a thing that exists across many different formats, with the basic narrative differing across the original radio series, the re-recorded LPs, the novels, the television programme, the radio versions of the third & fourth & fifth novels, the computer game.

BBC Radio 4 Extra are broadcasting the original 1978 radio series, one episode a week.

“Fit the First” – this is the official title for the first half-hour, (“fit”, it’s a poetry thing).
